When I met Caro and Moi for a coffee and they began to tell me their story – and their roots – I was tempted to take paper and pen out to remember how many nationalities they added together, American, Venezuelan, French, Argentinian… And I leave some for sure, because I was shy and didn’t take the pen out. They met while studying a master’s degree in Barcelona and some time later they moved to London for work. She, in a record company, and he as a civil engineer.
They wanted an intimate wedding, but the most important thing for them was to enjoy their family and friends, who came from all corners of the world, I think there was just two or three Spanish people, including myself. When you have so different roots, getting married is one of the few occasions when you manage to reunite all of your loved ones and those of your partner.
They held two ceremonies. First, a religious one in Sant Joan de Missa’s hermitage, and then a civilian one in Mallaui, the farm they rented to spend a whole week with all the guests in the middle of menorcan nature, overlooking the sea of Calan Turqueta, one of the most famous beaches of Menorca.
Caro knew she wanted her wedding dress to be in line with her values, so she chose a dress from Sanyukta Shrestha , handmade with organic silk by a women’s cooperative in Nepal. A beautiful dress and also ethical and sustainable, I loved it.
Espai Catering took care of the appetizer, dinner and the simple rustic decoration that the couple wanted.
